Bio

Son of James W. and Mary Susie (Stutts) Godwin. Marriage: Ruth Adams on October 04, 1934 recorded in Nueces County, Texas. Marriage: Bessie M. Truitt on March 09, 1961 recorded in Nueces County, Texas. ------------ Funeral services will be held tomorrow at the Norton Street Church of Christ for John W. Godwin, 62, of 4025 Grove, who died yesterday in a local hospital after a long illness. B. J. Cheatham, minister, and Jim Owen, educational director for the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Seaside Memorial Park under direction of Ross Langham Mortuary. Mr. Godwin had lived here since 1942. He was born in the Sharp community and was a former resident of Beeville. He had been a salesman with two local auto dealers. Surviving are his wife, Bessie; four daughters, Mrs. W. B. Reagan (Ina Ruth) of Raymondville, Mrs. Mary Ann Handley of Corpus Christi, Mrs. John Stanton of Barstow, Calif., and Mrs. Toby Bowen of Hurst; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James W. Godwin of Fort Worth; a sister, Mrs. Noble P. Walker of Fort Worth; two brothers, Floyd Godwin of College Station, and Clyde M. Godwin of Keller, and 13 grandchildren.
