Parents William Stokley Murphey and Anna Lee Jennings Married Terry Darnell Cowley December 26, 1970 in Montague County, Texas Jerry Wayne Murphey “Big Murph”, age 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29th, 2020, at Hospice of Wichita Falls in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was born September 28th, 1948, in Nocona, Texas to William and Anna Lee Murphey. He was born and raised in Nocona and worked for Nocona ISD Maintenance Department for 27 years. After retiring from Nocona ISD, Jerry worked for the City of Nocona for 6 years. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Helen Sawyer and Billie Murphey, a nephew, Raymond Murphey. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Terry Darnell (Cowley) Murphey, and loving children, son, Randy Murphey and wife, Keila, of Nocona, Texas; son Bill Murphey and wife, Amy, of Nocona, Texas; and daughter Robin Slowey and husband, Chris, of Lakeside City, Texas; six grandchildren, Emma and Sam, Wesley and Walker, and Caitlin and Connor; and brother, John Murphey and wife, Fern, of Nocona, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Jerry Woods Funeral Home, August 31st, from 6:00-8:00pm. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 1st at 10:00am at Nocona Cemetery.
