Joe H. Wilkins, 62, of Taylor died Sunday, August 10, 2003 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Family visitation will be 6 to 8 PM, Thursday at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Celebration of Life services will be 10 am, Friday at Providence Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery. Joe Henry Wilkins was born on November 23, 1940 to Gus and Minnie (Kirschke) Wilkins in Buckholts, Texas. Joe married Donna Blanyer in March,1960 in Hempstead, Texas. He was self-employed as a paint contractor for more than 20 years and traveled the South Central Texas area. For the last 13 years, Joe was apartment manager for the Park Place Apartments of Taylor. Joe was an avid gardener, growing everything from flowers to vegetables. He even maintained a greenhouse year round. Pallbearers will be Alan Gmitter, Chuck Olbrich, Ryan Olbrich, Jordon Olbrich, Daniel Brosch and David Sellers. Memorials may be made to Taylor Special Olympics. P. O. Box 214, Taylor, TX 76574. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Donna Wilkins of Taylor; his son, Troy Wilkins and wife Lisa of Round Rock; his daughters, Milinda Gmitter and husband Alan of Buda, Peggy Olbrich and husband Chuck of Thorndale and Regina Wilkins of Taylor; his brothers, Charles Wilkins of CA. and Richard Wilkins and wife Diane of Taylor; his sister, Bonnie Clark of Rockdale; five grandchildren, Ryan, Jordon, and Heather Olbrich, Mackie and Augie Gmitter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
