Son of William Isaac Shelton and Mary BATES Shelton. Joel Joseph Shelton* was born around 1807 in South Carolina and died before 1860 in what is believed to be Murray County, Georgia. Joel Joseph Shelton vs Joel Thomas Shelton Regarding Joel Shelton and his middle name. I have found conflicted information on "Thomas". I came across Joel Thomas Shelton Find-A-Grave Memorial ID 64965236 (Louisiana) several years ago. The man who set up the memorial transferred it to me. Blake Shelton is my 4th cousin. Sarah Elizabeth SHELTON Robertson (my 2nd great grandmother) is sister to Elias Shelton. Blake comes from Elias Shelton line. January 2020 a man named Bradley Johnson contacted me stating that the Joel Thomas Shelton Find-A-Grave memorial (Louisiana) ID 64965236 I maintained was "his" Joel who was from Ohio. Joel's wife Mary Francis HARRISON Shelton is buried next to him. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/64965236/joel-thomas-shelton Later in 2020 Ronnie Brant (one of my cousins) and his wife Sara went to the cemetery in Louisiana and cleaned up the headstone and removed the soil at the bottom of the headstone. Sure enough it said "Ohio" so that confirmed it was Bradley Johnson's Joel. I set up a new memorial on August 02, 2020 for "my" Joel and transferred Bradley's Joel memorial to him.
