Bio

Mr. James T. Townley, age 85, of Anniston, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at Regional Medical Center. Mr. Townley was a native of Arkansas but had lived in Anniston for the last 40 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, worked for more than 30 years as a central dispatcher for Matlack Trucking Co. and was a member of Hill Crest Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughters, Grace Buford, of Lakeland, Fla., Wrenette Weninegar, of Hoover, Ala., and Fern Shell, of Lakeland; eight grandchildren, Tony Buford, Janet Talbert, Paul Melvin, Troyce Shell, Jerry Lea Franks, Jessica Fullbright, Joey Hutto and Tami Crumley; 17 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Mr. Townley was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Hutto; grand daughter, Little Grace Buford; three sisters and three brothers. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Kindred Care Hospice of Birmingham. Obituary published in The Advocate, Baton Rouge, La., on 8/26/2007.
