Mildred A. Juranek, 94, of Linwood, died Friday, June 24, 2016, at David Place in David City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday with a 7 p.m. rosary service at Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel. Viewing will be 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Mildred was born on Aug. 26, 1921, to Joseph and Emma (Vavricek) Cech on the farm near Schuyler. She attended local grade school and went on to graduate from Schuyler High School in 1939. She married Leo E. Juranek Sr. on Dec. 27, 1939, at Holy Trinity Church, Heun, and three children were born to this union. Mildred was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Altar Society of Linwood and a current member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and altar society in Abie. She was also a long-time member of the Linwood Community Extension Club and leader of 4-H groups in her area. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, sewing, canning and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mildred is survived by her sons, Leo (Mary) Juranek and Robert (Dorothy) Juranek, both of Linwood; daughter, Joyce (John) Gardner of Omaha; 13 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo in 2003; and two brothers, Edward and Frank Cech.
