He married Tamra Mawhinney on August 14, 1965. They raised two children, in Winner and Mission, South Dakota. When their children were young Rick and his wife attended a series of gospel meetings held by Ruth Henderson and Bonnie Dirks. The family car was broken down at the time, so they walked across town with their son in a stroller to attend the. Both Rick and his wife made their choice to serve God in 1971. Rick was faithful in that choice until the end of his life. After selling the family business in Mission, South Dakota, Rick and his wife moved to Idaho in 1991 where they lived and worked, enjoying the fellowship of family and friends. They were privileged to have a Sunday morning meeting in their home on Locust street. Rick retired at age 62 and shortly after the couple followed his wife's work to Arizona where they bought a home in 2010. Again, in Yuma, Arizona, they had the privilege of a Sunday morning meeting in their home. In 2016 Rick and his wife relocated back to Twin Falls where Rick peacefully passed away. Rick built two of the family's homes himself, had a deep love for nature and being outdoors, birdwatching, and upland game hunting.
