“Papa” Rex Edgar Bolin, 83, passed away June 6, 2020, in Bivins, Texas. Rex was born March 8, 1937 in Pearsall, Texas to his parents Ralph and Madilyn Bolin. Rex grew up in Spring Branch, TX, where he graduated from Spring Branch HS. He was a proud graduate of the University of Houston, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Rex worked for the highway department doing appraising and then opened his own business, Rex Bolin and Associates. Rex was a real estate appraiser for over 50 years. He was the president of Houston chapters of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers and the Institute of Real Estate Appraisers. He was actively involved in leading Indian guides and Indian Princesses as well as coaching several of his kid’s teams. Rex enjoyed reading, especially mysteries and spy novels, and had almost every tool a man could own. Summer family vacations were of utmost importance to him. Rex was an avid Houston Rockets and Houston Astros fan, having had season tickets to the Rockets for several years. Rex is survived by his wife of 29 years, Pat Bolin; his son Matt Bolin; his daughter Krissy Bolin; his stepson Allen Frans and spouse Amy; stepson Eric Frans and wife Faye, and 5 grandchildren Adrian, Riley, Colby, Molly, and Trevor, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Carole; his brothers Lee Ralph and Leldon Bolin. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 13 at 1:30, at Hanner Funeral Home in Atlanta, Texas.
