Memorial services for Gary Wayne Woodward, 61, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Dwayne Thornton officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. Mr. Woodward was born October 8, 1958 in Arlington, Texas to the late Mary (Defoor) and Francis Woodward, and died Saturday, June 13, 2020 at his residence. Mr. Woodward had resided in Lufkin for 33 years. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, serving as a helicopter mechanic, and retired from Lufkin Industries following 22 years of employment. Mr. Woodward enjoyed fishing. He was known for his kindness and ability to talk to anybody. He never met a stranger and was a teddy bear of a person. Mr. Woodward was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Rhonda (Havard) Woodward of Lufkin; daughter, Missy Ainsworth of Beaumont; granddaughters, Brailey Prince and Bree Prince, both of Beaumont; great-granddaughter, Saylor Ray Tatum of Beaumont; sisters and brothers-in-law, Darla Speicher of Lufkin, Wendi and Bobby Whitehead of Burleson, Gayle and Kerry Sandifar of Alvarado; brother and sister-in-law, A.J. and Linda Funderburk of Lufkin; mother-in-law, Clarine Havard of Lufkin; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Rita Fancher, Renee and Pat Montes, and Regina Barrett, all of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Vernon Speicher.
