The State/Columbia, S.C., Thursday, September 10, 1987 Mrs. Tessie M. Steele Mrs. Tessie Manning Steele, 86, of 1626 Denny Road, widow of Collis Melvin Steele Sr., died Wednesday. Born in Monroe County, Ala., she was a daughter of the late Newton Manning and Mrs. Caroline Stanton Manning. She was a former teacher and a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, C.M. Steel Jr. of Columbia; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth S. Bauknight of Columbia; a sister, Mrs. Louie M. Dozier of Frisco City, Ala.; grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Talbert-Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Larry Deeter. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be James S. Bauknight, E.W. Jackson Jr., A. Gary Seigler, Fred J. Buyck Jr., Donald A. Cantu and George E. Bauknight.
