Nanette (Nan) Blanche Decker, age 79, of Owen, Wis., died Sunday, August 12, 2007, at the Palliative Care Unit, St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, Wis., with her family by her side. Nan was born July 15, 1928, in Owen to William and Sadie (Riemer) Kennow. She attended school there, and as a teenager moved to Milwaukee with her parents for a brief time. In 1948, she married Victor Decker, and they resided in Owen the rest of their lives. For many years, Nan was employed at Master Package Corporation in Owen. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and anyone who was a guest in her home always received wonderful meals. Jigsaw puzzles, reading and flowers were among her other interests. Nan will be remembered for enjoying a good cup of coffee and good conversation. Nan is survived by three daughters, Betty (Robert) Missling of Barron, Cathy VanWinkle of River Falls and Pam (Karl) Lobacz of Wind Lake; seven grandchildren, Wendy (Robert) Halverson, Brad (Laurie) Missling, Jeff (Jennifer) Missling, Niki Van Winkle, Eric Petersen, Jamie (Aaron) Jacob and Stella Lobacz; and five great-grandchildren, Matthew Halverson, Jacob Halverson, Breanna Ivy, Ariez Petersen and Alexandra Jacob. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; her parents; and her siblings, Frederick, Alice, Wilder, Jesse, Robert, Bernice, Natalie, Neal, Lorna, Glenn and Leslie. Following Nan's wishes, no funeral service will be held. A private burial service will be held at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. The family wants to thank those who have shared their condolences and fond memories. The Cremation Society of Wisconsin is serving the family.
