Son of Oliver Kilgore Hoppie and Sophronia Henrietta Rogers Married Verla Jane Blackburn, 18 Jun 1930, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah Married Phyllis Pratt, 17 Sep 1970, Salt lake City, Salt Lake, Utah Obituary - William Henry Hoppie, 91, peacefully passed away Monday afternoon, October 13, 1997. Born July 18, 1906 to O.K. and Sophronia Rogers Hoppie in Bingham Canyon, Uath. He married Verla Jane Blackburn (now deceased) on June 18, 1930 in the Salt Lake Temple and they had six children. He married Phyllis Pratt Pack on September 17, 1970. His schooling included business college. He lived in Boise, Idaho and worked for the newspapers and taught typesetting at Boise High. The family then lived for a few years in Waco, Texas before moving to Salt Lake City, where he worked as a linotype operator for the Newspaper Agency Corp.He was a member of the LDS Church and held many positions in the ward and stake. He served several stake missions and he and Phyllis served as full-time missionaries in Virginia. His church duties were very important to him. He enjoyed gardening and dancing. He had a sharp sense of humor and loved to visit with people. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, and children: Barbara (Dale) Brimley, Murray; Joan (John) Ogdem, Poolesville, MD; Gail (Ivan) Pack, Bountiful; Bart (Sheila) Hoppie, Willard; Janis (Taylor) Williams, Alpine; Lynn (Marian) Hoppie, Mesa, AZ; Mark (Marilyn) Pack, Salt Lake City; Judy (Steven, deceased) Pack, Bountiful. He was a loving grandfather and great-grandfather. We wish to thank the kind and thoughtful staff members (nurses and aides) at the Holladay Health Care Center who gave our dad their loving care. Funeral services will be held at the Holladay 4th Ward, 4917 S. Viewmont, Holladay, Utah on Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997 at 12 noon. Family and friends may call at the ward house from 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment in the Ogden City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the LDS Church Missionary Fund. T 10/15 N 10/15
