Bio

Anna Korenek Klevar, 94, departed this life on January 31, 2008, to join her loved ones who preceded her in death. She was born in Nada, Texas, on June 20, 1913, the third child of Mary (Kallus) and Emil Korenek. On November 7, 1932, she married Louis F. Klevar Jr. of Danbury, Texas, in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, where they were life-long members. She loved being a homemaker and seamstress and was an excellent baker of kolaches, strudels and tea rings, and enjoyed making noodles. She loved her farm animals and front yard hedge of pink roses. After Louis’ death on October 14, 1986, she remained in the farmhouse that Louis had built, baking and cooking for children, grandchildren and friends, until she relocated in January 2003 to St. Dominic’s assisted living facility in Houston, where she was kept in the thoughts of the Brazoria County community and St. Anthony’s Altar Society through cards, visits and church bulletins. The game of dominoes was an important source of pleasure in Louis and Anna’s lives, and she continued playing until shortly before her death. Preceding Anna in death were her husband, Louis; her four brothers, Anton, John, Frank and Fred Korenek, and her sister, Josephine Siegel. She is survived by her two younger brothers, Laddie Korenek of Friendswood, and Albert (Doris) Korenek of Houston. Remaining to honor the memory of Anna are four children, Harvey (Georgie) Klevar of Decorah, Iowa, Janice (Paul) Prasek of Wimberley, Texas, Patricia (John) Wikoff, and Marilyn Klevar, of Houston; and six grandchildren, Lisa (Mark) Mooney, Phil (Anne) Prasek, Leah Klevar (Mark), Rachel Klevar (Kevin), Courtney (Mike) Fisher and Tara Wikoff. She is also survived by five beloved great-grandchildren, Ryan and Bret Mooney, Nathan and Joseph Prasek and Ava Grace Palmberg and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. She was always strong and determined, which qualities served her well both in health and until the end. She will be buried in Danbury, Texas, with the rite of Mass at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, on Monday, February 4, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday with a rosary to be held at 3:00 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Church. Phil Prasek, Ryan and Bret Mooney, Arnold Korenek, Alan Korenek, and Robert Siegel, will serve as pallbearers. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Kuykendall Health Care c/o Virginia Kuykendall, 1110 Nashua, Houston, Texas 77008.
