Bio

Frances Elizabeth Miller, 96, of Waco, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007 in a local nursing facility. The funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 21, in the Chapel of the First United Methodist Church of Waco, 4901 Cobbs Drive, with the Rev. Stephen Ramsdell officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. She was born in Milford, Texas, to the late Dr. Asa Nowlin and Louise Victoria Nowlin. Her family moved to Liberty Hill, Texas, and later to Austin. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High school in 1928. In 1938, she married Vernon L. Miller in Dallas and moved to Waco in 1946. She loved gardening, oil painting, playing the piano and organ and traveling with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon L. Miller; and brothers: Asa, Tillman and Carl Nowlin, of Austin. She is survived by a son, James Vernon Miller "Jim" and his wife, Ella; grandson, James, of Waco; nephews, Frank, Charles, and Douglas Nowlin, of Austin; and step-daughters, June Hallford, Joyce Green, and Janet Green, of Temple.
