Bio

Ruth Burris Walsh, 95, of McComb, died of a heart condition Aug. 14, 2000, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. Visitation is 5-8 tonight at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb,and 8 a.m. Wednesday until services there at 10 a.m. Bro. Ed Sudduth, Dr. David Millican and the Rev. Bob Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery. Mrs. Walsh was born Jan. 29, 1905, in Amite County. She was the daughter of T.E. Burris and Lula Branch Burris. She was a retired beautician, and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of McComb. Mrs. Walsh was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Henry Noel Young, James Earl Weathersby and W. H. Walsh; three brothers, Fred, Elwin and Norman Burris; and one sister, Annie Mae Williams. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Roy L. Thompson of Summit; two stepdaughters, Lee Walsh Crawley of Madison and Yvonne Walsh Norman of Laurel; one grandson, James Thompson of Forest, Va.; one granddaughter, Marilyn Garrett of Summit; two great-grandsons, Timothy Garrett of Oxford and Benjamin Garrett of Starkville; one great-granddaughter, Emily Thompson of Forrest; one brother, Hilburn Burris of McComb; three sisters, Mildred Avera of McComb, Mary Gill of Bude and Joyce Boyd of Hattiesburg; a special sister-in-law, Geneva Burris of Magnolia; and special friends, Bob and Libby Gordon of McComb.
