MARY SUMMERS MEYER, 84, of Houston, died Wednesday, October 14, 1981. A descendant of the Cherokee Nation of Eastern America, Mrs. Meyer was one of 11 children of the late Jeff Davis Summers and Florence Delora Willard of near Kervin, Tx. in Freestone County. She was a member of the former McAshan Methodist Church and First Methodist Church in Houston during her 63 years here. Survivors: husband, Albert G. Meyer, retired; daughter, Ruth P. Waterfield, Houston; son, Melvin C. Pitts, New Canaan, Conn.; two brothers, Sam M. Summers, Lovelady, and Charlie W. Summers, Silsbee; sisters, Mrs. Sallie Remington, Houston, and Mrs. Millie Robinson, California; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; i great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Wilmer and Henry S. Pitts, and a daughter, Lavonia Catherine Koonce. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 1981, at Brookside Chapel at Eastex Frwy., and Lauder Rd., conducted by Dr. D. Orval Strong. Interment in Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers: David Waterfield, George Richard Waterfield, Melvin C. Pitts, II, William F. Schoenfeld, Harvey E. Warren, Roy A. Seay, Robert O.
