Bio

After over 85 years, God brought Dorothy Mae Scott to her eternal reward on the morning of June 6, 2015. Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Dick Scott, for over 67 years and leaves him, her four daughters and their families as her legacy. She raised her family to love God, taught them to care for others and instilled within them the attributes of a Godly woman, loving mother and faithful spouse. Dorothy was born on October 5, 1928 in Holyoke, Colorado. She moved to and graduated from high school in Ogallala, Nebraska in the summer of 1947, and later that year married her soul mate, Richard Scott on December 14, 1947, in Julesburg, Colorado. After committing their lives to each other, less than a year later Dick and Dorothy moved to Boise, Idaho to attend Boise Bible College. While attending, they began their Christian Ministry and had their first daughter, Rhonda. After graduating, Dick, Dorothy and Rhonda moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to serve in a local church. While ministering in Colorado Springs, their second daughter, Radene was born and shortly after, they were called to move their growing family to Sturgis, South Dakota to serve as a minister to the Church of Christ. During their seven years of service in Sturgis, they had their third and fourth daughters, ReVona and Ricarda. Their ministry took them many places after Sturgis and grew to include: Kinsford, Michigan; Glendive, Montana; Vale, Oregon; Enterprise, Oregon; Garibaldi, Oregon; Pendleton, Oregon; Weiser, Idaho; Boise, Idaho; (Boise Retirement Village); Ontario, Oregon (Sunrise Christian Church); and back to Boise, Idaho to reside and share the word of God once again at the Boise Christian Retirement Village. Dorothy will be missed by all of those that were blessed to have known her and whose lives she had touched, but she is rejoicing in heaven with many friends and family that went before her. Dorothy is preceded in death by her mother, LuElla (Schutt) Meline; stepfather, Lawrence Meline; and sister, Deloris Sibal. She is survived by her husband, Richard Scott; their daughters and their spouses; Rhonda (Ray) DeLoe, Radene (Phil) Terry, ReVona (Larry) Neis, and Ricarda (Mark) Hargrove. She is also survived by her sister and sister’s spouse; Glenice (Ed) Williams; as well as her 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at Sunrise Christian Church in Ontario, Oregon on June 27th at 1:00 pm and Boise Christian Retirement Village in Boise, Idaho on June 28th at 3:30 pm. Memorials may be made to Sunrise Christian Church where the memorials will be divided between Boise Christian Retirement Village, Boise Bible College and Sunrise Christian Church, 968 SW 30th Street, Ontario, OR 97914, in Dorothy Scott’s name.
