Regina Matthias, 96, of Denver, Iowa, died on August 5, 2007 at the Denver Sunset Home, Denver. Regina was born on March 26, 1911, in Granger, Texas, the daughter of Max and Mathilda (Rosenkranz) Mickan. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Georgetown, Texas. After her schooling in Georgetown, she was united in marriage to Lorenz Matthias on November 11, 1934 in Georgetown, Texas. After returning from Georgetown, the couple farmed near Denver and retired in 1978. Lorenz died on July 12, 1991. Regina was an active member of the Klinger Ladies Aid, the LWML Ladies Aid for 65 years, a member of the Allen Hospital Auxiliary for 39 years, and served on the Bremer County Museum Board for 16 years. Regina is survived by her three sons, Eugene Matthias and his wife, Jan of Readlyn, Iowa; Wendell Matthias and his wife, Elaine of Denver, Iowa; and Warren Matthias and his wife, Elaine of Tucson, Arizona; nine grandchildren, Wendy (Bob) Lamos; Laurie (Scott) King; Michael (Michelle) Matthias; Renee (Bob) Stoutenberg; Gina (Brent) Kuker; Brent (Kari) Matthias; Bryan (Beth) Matthias; Angie (Scott) Espenson; and Mindy (Mike) Muzzarelli; twelve great grandchildren and one step great grandson; two sister in laws; Irene Matthias of Denver, Iowa and Elvie Mickan of Georgetown, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lorenz and four brothers. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 10, 2007 at 10:30 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Klinger. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Klinger.
