Elmer Ray Barrett, known as Ray to his family and friends, age 83, went peacefully to his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 10:40 p.m.. He was surrounded by his daughter Sheila Owen and niece Ginger Steinmetz. Ray was born on April 10, 1936 in a car on the way to the hospital in a little town called Hebron, Texas. He lived numerous places throughout his 83 years of life. He finally settled in Wills Point, Texas where he resided for the last 30 years. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Cleburne and Lottie Barrett and siblings Sannie Lee Barrett, Leola Hill, Elzie (Tex) Barrett, Thomas (Tom) Barrett, Cecil (Ernie) Barrett, Cleburn (CF) Barrett, Clifford (Allen) Barrett and Edith Newton. Ray was a hardworking man who held down many jobs throughout his life time. His favorite jobs where truck driving, auto mobile mechanic and the job he retired from being a machinist. He was a man of simple means with a heart of gold. You could always count on Ray (Daddy) to lend a helping hand or be there in your time of need. Ray was a family man who loved his family whole heartedly. He always looked forward to family gatherings especially the Barrett annual fish fry. Ray is survived by his children; Monty Barrett, Sheila Owen her husband John, Vance Barrett, Tracy Glenn and Charles Woosley his wife Susie; grandchildren; Leslie Cubbage, Johnny Barrett, Niccole DaCosta her husband Thiago, Jeffrey Eustace, Payton Whiteside,Tasha Woosley, Charles Woosley Jr. and Tesley Witchie her husband Jessie; great-grandchildren, Breanna DaCosta, Braydon Eustace, Isabella Eustace, Damion Wynns, Tyler Ferguson, Chase Ferguson, Daniel Ferguson, Kelsey (Dipples) Ferguson, Callen Witchie, Addy Witchie and Josslyn Witchie and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, 2019 between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home 740 S. Edmonds Ln., Lewisville, Texas A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home 740 S. Edmonds Ln., Lewisville, Texas with a grave site service to resume @ Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville, Texas
