Bio
Rosa Mae Kana, 89, of Fredericksburg, formerly of El Campo, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008. She was born on Feb. 10, 1919 in Snook to John and Annie Barinka Nedbalek. She was a sales associate for many years in El Campo and a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Dunlap of Kingwood and Debbie Lewis of Fredericksburg; and sons, James Kana of The Woodlands and Gary Kana of El Campo; sisters, Lillie Kana of Houston and Annie Mazoch of Gonzales, La.; brothers, Emil Nedbalek of Houston and Johnnie Nedbalek of Blessing; eight grandchildren; and one step-grandson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Steve S. Kana, Jr. A rosary was held on Friday, Feb. 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with funeral services following at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Gary Janak officiating. Entombment followed at Holy Cross Memorial Park under the direction of Triska Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church.
