Bio
John Preston, longtime resident of Guy, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 16, 2009. Memorial services are 1 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at First Baptist Church of Damon, 1204 County Road 264 in Damon. John’s final resting place will be on the Shallenberger family ranch outside of San Marcos. Visitation is 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, March 20, at The Settegast-Kopf Co. At Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway in Sugar Land. John was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one sister; two beloved daughters, Connie Martin and husband, Buck, and Carol Selig. He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Cathy and husband, Craig Shallenberger; grandchildren, Jessica, Christopher, and Alyssa Shallenberger of San Marcos and Austin, Derrick and Matthew Selig of Needville; stepchildren, Barbara and husband, Larry, Brenda and husband, Tom, Bryan and Brett; step-grandchildren, Brittney, Alton, Kimberly, and Joey; brothers, James, David, Ike, and Charlie Preston, and sister, Jeannie Hejny, and their spouses; and numerous nieces, nephews and special loved ones. Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Damon, c/o John Preston Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 10, Damon, Texas 77430, in lieu of flowers. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of The Settegast-Kopf Co. Funeral Directors at Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway in Sugar Land, 281-565-5015.
