Bio
Lillian Beatrice Reid Deal, 89, Lakeview, died Wednesday in Lakeview. She was born in 1893 at her Taylor Ranch Home. Her parents were Charles Miner Taylor and Amelia Keller Broili Taylor. She was married to Everet Austin Reid at her home in New Pine Creek on Oct 22, 1911. They drove by horse and buggy to Lakeview and the home of his sister, Minnie Amick. Upon arriving at New Pine Creek the following day they found the town had burned during the night. While living in New Pine Creek, she was a member of the Eastside Grange No. 583, the grange's home economics club, New Pine Creek Needle Club and Happy Hour Club. She was a Christian of the Truth and Faith. She spent her life in Goose Lake Valley, several years at the Taylor Ranch and in later years buying the Reid home and property from Mrs. John Reid. She was preceded in death by her husband Everet in 1949, a brother Cecil, sisters Hilda Barry Holt and Thelma Butler. She and James Roy Deal, Eugene, were married Jan. 1, 1954, at her New Pine Creek home. They moved to Eugene, where they lived until his death on June 8, 1974. She has been making home with her daughter Dorothy Ried McDonald, Lakeview, the past six years. Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy McDonald, Lakeview; grandsons Richard McDonald, Summerville, Ore., James McDonald, Lakeview; granddaughter, Winsome Wells, Lakeview; and five great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters.
