Bio
Laverne M. Frei, 87, of Temple, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012, in a local nursing facility. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Temple. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falls County. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Laverne was born in Westphalia, Texas, to the late Henry and Antoinette Kleypas Beach. She attended school in Westphalia and helped her parents farm land there as a young girl. On June 24, 1948, she married Alois Frei in Westphalia. She was a member of the St. Mary's School PTA and a founding member of St. Luke Catholic Church. She retired from Scott and White Hospital as a supervisor and cashier in the dietary department after 20 years. Laverne was preceded in death by her husband in August, 2011; and brothers Gilbert and Thomas Beach. Survivors include sons, James Frei, of Temple, Michael Frei, of Troy; daughter, Kathy Wilson, of Temple; four grandchildren; brothers, retired Col. William L. Beach, of Oceanside, California, and Lawrence Beach, of Manor; sisters, Dorothy Schmidt, of San Antonio, Juanita Buxkemper, of Schulenberg, and Ruth Jahns, of Houston; other family members, and many friends.
