Matous was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Benes, born in Zdenice, Pisecky, Czechoslovakia. He married Barbara Markytan 31 Oct 1907 in West Point, Cuming County, Nebraska. Per obit Colfax County Call; Schuyler, Colfax County, Nebraska; 19 Nov 1953 p6 c1. Matous died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. B. J. Cech, south of Clarkson. Per obit Fremont Tribune; 4 Nov 1953 p2 c6.
