Bio

Janice Bloom Fain, age 92, of Arlington, Virginia, passed away January 18, 2019. She was born January 8, 1927, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Landess Aaron Bloom and Beatrice Sears Bloom. Janice is survived by her daughter Stephanie (Robert) Morrow, granddaughters Johanna (Matthew) Strobel and Katherine Morrow, and great-granddaughter Evelyn Strobel. After earning a doctorate in physics at the University of Texas at Austin, her career included work in systems analysis, early work in quantitative methods, and operations research. She and her husband, William Fain, worked as a team for aircraft manufacturers and other defense contractors before coming to Arlington-based CACI in 1969. She divorced in 1975. She was active in volunteer work for Arlington County and in her granddaughters’ schools. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 601 N. Vermont St., Arlington, VA, 22203 on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at 2:00 p.m.
