November 27, 2025 ------------------------------------------------------- Milo Vanek, 88 of North Lima, OH, formerly of Indianapolis, Indiana died in the evening on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Glenellen Assisted Living with his loving family at his bedside. Milo was born February 21, 1927 in Prague, Nebraska, a son of the late John Stanley and Barbara Rose Steinbach Vanek. Milo served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated from Lain Drafting College in Indianapolis and worked as a draftsman for Allison, a division of General Motors for over 36 years, retiring in 1989. After serving for 40 years on the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department Boone County, Milo's number, 813, was retired in December 2014. He was an EMT, taught CPR classes, and participated in many volunteer activities. He leaves his wife of 62 years, the former Betty Jo Conley whom he married March 21, 1953; one son, Dr. Vince Vanek and his wife Claudia; two granddaughters, Trisha (Craig) Straub, Candice (Kent) Wright; three great-grandchildren, Stephen, Milo and Emily; two sisters, Clara Schrader of Oklahoma, Helen Fencel of Nebraska and one brother, John Vanek, Jr. also in Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Milo was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
