LILLIAN JEAN TREFNY Lillian “Jean” Trefny, 84, of Weimar, passed away peacefully with her children at her side on Thursday, March 19th, 2020 at Schulenburg Regency. Jean was born in Schulenburg on September 11, 1935 the daughter of the late Ewald and Marie (Vacek) Blaschke. After graduating from Schulenburg high school, Jean started her banking career at a local bank. She enjoyed banking and continued her career in Houston after marrying Milton Louis Trefny in 1956. She worked for MacGregor Bank and later Texas Commerce Bank where she retired Senior Vice President in 1995. She and Milton retired on property near Weimar and Jean continued to help her husband in their family business in Columbus, TX. Jean was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America in Weimar and the Polk-of-A club. She enjoyed playing bridge for many years in Houston as well as in Weimar with a local group of ladies. After her husband passed away, Jean rounded up a group of friends to start a poker club. She enjoyed hosting her friends and family. She took great pride in her grandchildren, while watching many sporting events, graduations, Eagle and Sea Scout ceremonies and the births of her great-grandchildren. She loved to work in her yard to keep it manicured with the company of her pet, Kitty Cat. “Mom”, “Mamaw” and “GG” will be sadly missed by her family. Jean is survived by her daughter Terri Lynn (Trefny) Christen and husband Roy of Weimar, son Thomas Lee Trefny and wife Pam of Round Rock, 5 grandchildren Kay Christen-Jahn, Julie and Kari Christen, Anthony and Ryan Trefny; two great grandchildren Kendall and Kortlyn Jahn; brother Kenneth Blaschke and wife Renee of Smithville, sister-in-law Hazel Blaschke, brother E.J. Blaschke and wife Suzan of Yoakum. She was preceded in death by her parents Ewald and Marie, husband Milton and brother Berneth Blaschke. In consideration of current public gathering guidelines, a private Funeral Mass was held with her immediate family at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Weimar with Father Wayne Flagg officiating. Interment followed at St. Michael's Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations go towards St. Michael Church or School, a Parkinson’s Disease charity (e.g. Parkinson's Foundation, Michael J Fox Foundation) or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hubbard Funeral Home, Weimar, Texas. The family would like to thank the staff at the Schulenburg Regency and Youens and Duchicela Clinic for their tireless care and attention they gave to Jean. We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to Father Flagg, Annette Coerver, Pat Berger, Hubbard Funeral Home and Rita Anders for their efforts in assisting with the beautiful services that were so comforting to our family. Thank you to everyone for all your visits, gifts, donations and prayers that made this moment easier to bear.
