Funeral service is pending with Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. J.D. Moore of Greenville and Mrs. George Aycock of Farmersville. Powell, 86, of 3109 Caddo, died Saturday t 3:15 p.m. at the home of her daughter at 608 North Main in Farmersville. Funeral service will be today at 2:30 p.m. at the Coker-Mathews Funeral Chapel with Murphy Phillips officiating. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery. Mrs. Powell had lived in Texas since the age of four and in Greenville for the past 32 years. She was born in Johnson County, Ark. Feb. 10, 1896, the daughter of J.S. Mitchell and Margaret Hazal. She married Walter A. Powell June 18, 1911 in Celeste. She was baptized July 19, 1911, and was a member of Johnson Street Church of Christ for many years. Surviving are daughters, Zelma Aycock of Farmersville and Loth Moore of Greenville; brother, Odes Mitchell of Irving; nieces and nephews reared in Mrs. Powell’s home, Mrs. Alta Coker of Merit, Foy Powell of Greenville and Aubrey Powell of Mesquite; six grandchildren; seven grandchildren (sic); and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five sisters and one brother. Pallbearers will be Olen Gilmore, Dave Whitlock, Jimmy Foy Powell, Jimmy Dan Coker, Buddy Nix and C.W. Spainhour. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
