Sylvia L. Weaver December 11, 1924 - March 6, 2020 Sylvia Lucille Matejka was born on December 11, 1924 in rural Hawley to John and Mary (Honcik) Matejka. Sylvia grew up on her family farm and attended Crocus Hill Academy until 8th grade when she transferred to Hawley High School for 9th and 10th grade after which Sylvia began to stay home and care for her siblings. She graduated from New York Hair Dressing Academy in 1944. Sylvia married Frank Weaver on June 4, 1950 at Lysne Lutheran Church and together they started their family in Hawley. Sylvia and Frank moved to Moorhead in 1962 and where Sylvia continued to run her own beautician business out of her home until her retirement in 2001. Sylvia and Frank enjoyed their retirement by traveling and spending time with family and friends. Sylvia was a wonderful cook and caregiver. She enjoyed bowling, crochet, cross stitch, and caring for her houseplants during her free time. Sylvia was always very affectionate and loved her family greatly. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Terry Weaver; sisters, Evelyn Palm and Josephine Kluck; brothers, Lumir, Emil, and Raymond Matejka.
