Bio
Sybil Mary Kubacak, 87, of Taylor passed away with her two children by her side at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Taylor on Friday evening, March 6, 2020. Sybil was born on August 12, 1932 to John and Bessie Valla. She was a 1950 graduate of Granger High School. She attended the old Taylor Hospital's LVN Program and began her nursing career. When Dr. Marvin Leshikar returned to Taylor to start his practice, he requested a nurse who spoke Czech, and that nurse was Sybil. This was the start of her loyal service and commitment to the community. For thirty-eight years, she was a dedicated nurse and friend to Dr. Leshikar. Sybil married Jerry Kubacak of Granger on May 26, 1952, and to this union, two children were born. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; and sister, Dorothy Hendricks. Sybil is survived by her daughter, Ramona (Barry) Bonds of Sherman; son, Wayne (Patti) Kubacak of Taylor; grandchildren, Shane Kubacak of McKinney, Morgan Sims of McKinney, Cody (Lacie) Dlouhy, and Brook Dlouhy of Taylor; great-grandchildren, Jackson Kubacak, Maliyah and Traison Sims, Camryn Urbis, and Rylie and Avery Dlouhy. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Providence Funeral Home, with rosary recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers are Darvin Bucek, Bill Drozd, Cody Dlouhy, Edwin Marek, Mark Hendricks, and Russell Hendricks. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the administration, nurses, and staff for their loving care during Sybil's residence at SPJST Senior Living.
