Bio
The children of Thomas Scaggs & Mary Turner were James Lewis, Jasper, Ora Ella, Dora Della and Cora Ann. Marriage and Death Certificates show their parents for all but Dora, and marriage information from an index shows her parents as Thomas & Mary as well. Fortunately, the 1860 census of Christy, Lawrence County, Illinois, shows Thomas's parents as well, Henry Scaggs & Nancy ___, and Thomas's brother, William Scaggs...all living next door to each other. Although 16 Aug 1858 is indicated on Jasper's marriage record, as his birth date, other records indicate a birth year of 1860. In the 1860 census of his parents' family in July, he apparently had not been born yet. He passed away 29 Nov 1930, age 70 years, at Anna State Hospital for Insane, Anna Precinct, Union Co, IL
