******************************************* Funeral Services for Dennis Werner, age 80, of Chambers will be 10:00 am Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Biglins Mortuary in O’Neill with Ralph Metschke officiating. Burial will follow in the Chambers Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Friday, December 20, 2019 at Biglin’s Mortuary with a 7 pm prayer service. Dennis passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at his home near Chambers. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill is in charge of arrangements. Dennis Dean Werner was born April 27, 1939 to Kenneth and Millie (Waldo) Werner in Elgin, Nebraska. They lived in Elgin before moving to Fullerton, NE, then to Chambers where Dennis attended school. He graduated from Chambers High School in 1957. After graduation he attended Wayne State College for one year. Dennis moved on to Omaha and worked for Western Electric for four years where he met Ursula Weidemann. They were married and had two children; Deborah and David. Dennis returned to Chambers, Nebraska with his family. He worked laying telephone cable and building and repairing telephone lines. Dennis also farmed and enjoyed his horses. His marriage to Ursula ended after 30 years. In 2003, Dennis married Toni Mandernach. They enjoyed traveling to Jamaica for their honeymoon. Dennis retired in 2004, giving him and Toni more time to travel to many places, including Alaska twice. Dennis enjoyed collecting old cars, designing, and constructing buildings, being outdoors, watching wildlife, and traveling. He was a huge animal lover, mainly horses and especially his dogs. Dennis also appreciated good home cooking and cold weather camping. Dennis is survived by his children, Deb (Jeff) Quast of Shawnee, KS, David Werner of Chambers; three grandchildren, Rachel Engler, Andrew (Brieann) Werner, Paige (Brandon) Keech; ex-wife, Toni Werner of Chambers; several nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; Kenneth and Mildred Werner; his sister, Connie Magnuson; brother-in-law, Arlin Magnuson; and step son, Scott Mandernach. (biglinsmortuary.com/obituary)
