Bio
When Eugene Albert LaFontaine was born on June 11, 1922, in Utica, New York, his father, Francois/Frank, born in French Canada, was 39 and his mother, Delina (nee LaFevre in French Canada), was 30. He was the second to the last of many siblings. In 1925, he lived in Utica, Oneida, New York with his family, including his dad, Frank, his mom, Delina, his isters Rosanna, Forida, Agnes, Eva, brother Frank, sister Bertha, and brother Arthur. (listed oldest to youngest, Gene was the youngest in 1925). In 1930, when he was 8, he lived on Mt Vernon Ave., in Detroit/Wayne County, Michigan with his father, Frank, and his sisters Rose, Agnes, Eva, brother Frank, sister Bertha, and brother Arthur. (listed oldest to youngest, Gene was the youngest in 1930). In 1940, at census time, he was reported to have lived in Michigan with his mother, Delina LaFontaine, his older brother Frank (also born in NY) and his younger brother Dennis (born in 1935 in Michigan). His Uncle, Eugene LaFave, 49 yo, also lived with them. When he was 18, he married Ellen Faith Sharp, 19, (1st wife) (1921–1996) on Nov. 4, 1940 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, USA. They had a daughter, Jeanie Faith LaFontaine (later Bagnall/Bagnell and later Zabik), on 2 APR 1941 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, USA. (She died on 29 JUL 2015 in Knightdale, Wake, North Carolina, USA) He joined the Navy on July 5, 1943 and was on the ship FC 1215. He was an F3c, Fireman third class, and served at one point as a MoMM(SRG) - Motor Machinist's Mate (Ship Repair) (Gasoline Engine Mechanic). He divorced Ellen Faith Sharp on 23 June 1944. He met and became involved with Ruby Jo Troomer, (1923-2014), of Denton, Texas, and they had one daughter, Jeannine Doris LaFontaine, later Owens, in 1947. They got married in Denton, Texas, in 1950. They had another daughter, Jeannette Dianne LaFontaine, later Mack, in 1951. He met and became involved with Anne Berneice McCurley after that, and they had a daughter, Lanette Verne LaFontaine, later Bradley, McWethy, Eastwood), on 29 Dec. 1953. They got married in 1955. They had another daughter, Synthia Delina LaFontaine (later Ambrosini) on 12 Feb. 1957. His mother Delina passed away on August 2, 1958, in Detroit, Michigan, at the age of 66. Sometime before 1959, he met and became involved with Shirley Elaine Moore, and they had a daughter, Charisse Yvonne LaFontaine, later Russell, in 1959. They had a son, Eugene Albert LaFontaine in 1961. (He died in 1967.) They had another daughter Monique Michelle LaFontaine, later Cooper, in 1967. They later separated and he became involved with/lived with Linda Russain In the later years of his life, he lived at 309 N Scribner St, in Grapevine, TX, 76051, and ran a window tinting shop near his home with his son, until he became sick and died in 1995. He had one son and seven daughters. He died on May 28, 1995, in Grapevine, Texas, of lymphoma, at the age of 72.
