Published in the Trinity Journal Sept 28, 2016 Roy Little, "Root Beer," left this life at 7 a.m. Sept. 25, 2016. He was born at home in Nebraska in 1925 to Helen and Roy Sr. He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. He spent his adult years building the tall PG&E power structures seen around Redding. He was a self-taught motorcycle mechanic and successful enduro racer and hill climber. In 1960 he moved his family to Weaverville when he purchased the A&W Root Beer stand from his brother Ron. In the 1970s he apprenticed with Virgil DeLapp in building homes and making cabinets. He went on to either refurbish houses or build from the ground up in the Trinity County area. He rode motorcycles on the many logging roads of the area into his 60s, out hill climbing with the youngsters he rode with. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing much of Trinity County. He enjoyed spending many hours in the local rivers and lakes. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, M. Eloise (McComas) Little; daughter Christine; son Dennis; and granddaughter Ashley. Please remember Roy, walking down main street to the bakery to have morning coffee with the boys. No services are planned at this time.
