Mr. Micheal Hinton Mitchell, 77, of Dawson, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 14 at Wade Funeral Chapel in Hubbard with two of his brothers-in-law, Rev. Larry Glossup and Rev. Byron Williams officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15 at White Oak Cemetery near Porter in Montgomery County. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Friday before the services at the funeral home. Micheal was born January 17, 1943 in Montgomery County between Porter and New Caney to Audie Gideon Mitchell and Elsie Dona (Gassett) Mitchell as one of 13 children. He was raised in Montgomery County and was a graduate of New Caney High School before serving in the Army from 1961-64. The majority of his military service was in Germany where he witnessed the building of the Berlin Wall between East and West Germany. After being discharged from the military, he worked for several years as a machinist before attending Lee College in Baytown on an oil and gas apprenticeship through Exxon Corporation. Micheal lived in Mont Belvieu and Baytown during his long career as an operations manager and director with Exxon during which time he worked for several years overseas in Malaysia. After retiring from Exxon in 1990, he and his family moved to their ranch outside of Dawson which they had purchased years prior to his retirement. Micheal was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings, Verma Estelle Clement, Paul ReVain Mitchell, "A.G." Mitchell, Elsie Beth Bullock, Buford Leroy Mitchell, Lois Merle Malone and Jonathan Ray Mitchell. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Beryl (Sorter) Mitchell of Dawson; two sons, James Michael Mitchell and Mark Brandon Mitchell, both of Dawson; three grandsons, Christopher Benford, Nicholas Benford and Mathew Benford, five great-grandchildren; five sisters, Elma Ethel Masterson, Edith Maree Williams, Ruby Lee Helms, Marilyn Ann Williams and Audrey Faye Glossup and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other extended family members and many friends. Pallbearers will be Mathew Benford, Christopher Benford, Nicholas Benford, Greg James, Jason Williams, Royce Masterson, Dennis Loving and Cheston Loving. Read Less
