B. Wells, 57-year-old resident of the Lone Oak community, succumbed at 7:30 o'clock Wednesday night at the local hospital after a brief critical illness. Funeral services for Wells, father of Virgil Wells, employee of the state highway department here and of Ruel, also of Sayre will be held tomorrow afternoon at the Church of the Nazarene with Rev. J. L. Davis officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. T. L. Pierce. Burial will be in the Sayre-Doxey cemetery with Littrell-Scroggins funeral home in charge. Wells, long a resident of the Lone Oak community and well known in this vicinity, leaves his widow, sons, Virgil and Ruel, daughters, Mrs. Lee Goodwin, Hydro and Mrs. Fay Cunningham of El Reno: four brothers, Jim, Charles and Homer of Shamrock and John Slaton, Texas, and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Nichols of Hendrix, and Mrs. Wilson Maples of Delhi. The Sayre Headlight, Thursday, January 16, 1941 pg 1 WELLS RITES ARE FRIDAY Lone Oak Resident Stricken Suddenly Arthur B. Wells, well known resident of the Lone Oak community died Wednesday evening at his home following a brief critical illsess.(sic) Mr. Wells had been in failing health for the past two years and early Wednesday morning while cutting wood at his farm home.(sic) he was stricken suddenly and fell unconscious to the ground. He was rushed to the Sayre Hospital where he died shortly after 7 o'clock. He was born November 30, 1872(sic) in Tennessee and was married on December 25, 1904 to Miss Laverne Hall. He moved with his family to the western part of the state in 1926 and located on a farm in the Delhi community where he resided until 1936 when he moved to a home in Lone Oak community. Me. Wells is survived by his widow, two sons, Virgil Wells of Sayre and Ruel of the home address; two daughters, Mrs. Lee Goodwin of Hydro and Mrs. Faye Cunningham of El Reno. Other survivors include four brothers, Charles, Jim and Homer all of Shamrock, John of Slayton, Tex., and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Nichols of Hendrix, Tex., and Mrs. Wilson Maples of Delhi. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Church of the Naarene(sic) in Sayre with Rev. J. L. Davis officiating assisted by Rev. P. L. Pierce. Burial will be in the Sayre-Doxey cemetery by the Littrell Scroggins Funeral home.
