She was born March 31, 1924, in the Cooper's Chapel community in Titus County, TX to the late Raymond Anderson and Randie Vaught Anderson. She was the widow of Bill Slovak, a retired English Professor at Eastfield Community College and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon, TX. Her philosophy of life was: If you desire to do something, go for it! She has never been a bashful person and this motto has worked for her.
