Bio

Elmer Lee Templin, of Prosper Texas, passed away Thursday March 9th, 2017 at the age of 89. Elmer was born on August 9th, 1927 in Rock Hill, Texas to George and Ruby Templin. Growing up he worked on the family farm and enlisted in the Army at age 17. He served during World War II in the U.S. Constabulary forces in Germany until 1947. The Constabulary provided general military and civil security, patrolled the borders, seized contraband and controlled displaced persons, among their other duties. Following his marriage to Ruth on October 17th, 1952, he began attending First Baptist Church of Prosper. He became a Christian at the age of 27 and went public with his faith through baptism. He was truly a man of the Lord and a patriot to his country. He worked at General Motors for 30 years and served on the school board of Prosper ISD for 9 years. Elmer was a devoted family man and actively served in his church and the community of Prosper, where he lived his entire life. Elmer was a selfless man, who put others before himself and has left a lasting legacy to his children and grandchildren. Elmer is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ruth Templin, their two children, his son Charles Keith Templin, daughter Suzanne Armstrong and her husband Michael Armstrong; his 3 grandchildren; Marissa & Collin Armstrong, CJ and her husband Blake Howard; two sisters, Pat O'Dell and Jeri Templin; brother Hubert Templin; sisters-in-law and various nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his parents George and Ruby Templin; brothers and sisters, Kay, Joe, Jake, Billy Jack, John, Taft and Peggy Templin; Juanita Jenkins, Bessie Woods, DA Bailey, Doretha Putman and RJ Bailey.
