Bio

Phyllis Gwyn Sebesta, 67, of Guy, passed from this life on Monday, January 13, 2020 in Sugar Land, Texas. She was born on January 20, 1952 in Bay City, Texas to Roy and Elsie (Batchelor) Zwahr. Phyllis was rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years. She was loved by many people on her route. After her retirement, people would still comment to her how much they appreciated her hard work for all of those years and how much they missed her. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her grandkids; they loved her dearly. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed canning vegetables from the garden that she and Donald worked so hard in. She loved going to the hill country to see all of God’s creations. Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Friday, January 17, 2020 at Creekside Christian Fellowship in Needville with Greg Garcia officiating. Burial will follow at Guy Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Judy, Mervin Judy, Chase Jakubec, Cheston Zwahr, Dillon Jones, Buckie Groze, Greg Jakubec, and T J Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Bean, James Armstrong, and Mason Albright. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Donald Sebesta; sons, Dustin Sebesta and wife, Mandi, and Chris Sebesta and wife, Chrissy; grandchildren, Brysen and Harper Sebesta and Caylie Sebesta; brothers, Danny Zwahr and wife, Cheryl, and Jeffrey Zwahr and wife, Patti; sisters, Alice Jakubec and husband, James, VeeAnn Boff and husband, Mike, and Dana Shillingburg and husband, Eddie; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Roy Zwahr; mother, Elsie Zwahr; mother-in-law, Gracelie Sebesta; and sons, Jimmy and Jamie Sebesta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phyllis’ name to Creekside Christian Fellowship, PO Box 1129, Needville, TX 77461. Baker Funeral Home
