Bio

Rose Marie (Stenka) Mroczek, 79, of Loup City died Sunday, May 8, 2016, at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney. Heaven gained a beautiful angel on Mother’s Day. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City, with the Rev. Tom Ryan officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a Vigil Celebration/Sodality Rosary at 7, all at the church. Memorials are suggested to Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or donor’s choice. Rose Marie (Stenka) Mroczek was born Dec. 18, 1936, to Theodore and Anna (Eurek) Stenka. She grew up and attended school at St. Josaphat’s School through the 8th grade and then graduated from Loup City High School in 1954. On May 10, 1955, she married Anzel Mroczek at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. Anzel and Rose farmed eight miles north of Loup City. After five years on the farm they moved into town, where they have spent their entire lives. During high school, she started working for Sacred Heart Hospital in Loup City, where she continued to work for 40 years. She then worked at the Loup City Medical Clinic for Dr. Anantachia for 10 years until she was unable to work due to Multiple Sclerosis. She was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church and Rosary Sodality. She is survived by her husband, Anzel of Loup City; daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie Handlin of North Platte, Shelly and Kent Edington of Dickens, Debbie and Paul Eurek of Loup City and Kim and Jerry Scheuler of Grand Island; son, Terry Mroczek of Loup City; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Margie Moore of Lincoln and Julie Gentleman of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ray Stenka; brother-in-law, Franklin Techmeier; and her parents. -Courtesy of Grand Island Independent- **Even though the obituary states burial in Evergreen Cemetery, burial is actually in Saint Josaphat’s Cemetery. **
