Adolph Grieger, Sr., 77, died, Sunday, January 2, 2005, at SPJST Nursing Home in Taylor. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at Providence Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Johnson officiating, assisted by Brother Joe Chambers. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery. Adolph Albin Grieger was born March 2, 1927, in Taylor, Texas, to Frank and Annie (Kveton) Grieger. He served in the United States Navy. Adolph married Verna Weeks on September 15, 1949 in Granger, Texas, and this marriage was blessed with two sons and two daughters. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge of Beaukiss, and the SPJST of Taylor. Adolph retired in 1991 as water and wastewater superintendent with the City of Taylor after 43 years of service. He then pursued his dream of cattle ranching. He is survived by his loving wife Verna; his sons, Adolph Grieger, Jr. and wife, Wanda of Austin, Vernon Grieger and wife, Debra of Georgetown; daughters, Deby Lannen and husband, Mike of Taylor, Shelly Brown and friend, Joe Gamez of Taylor; mother-in-law, Ruby Weeks, of Taylor; brother, Elick Grieger and wife, Dorothy of Houston; sisters, Elsie Jez of Taylor and Lydia Bryant of Houston; sister-in-law, Gloria House of Houston; grandchildren, Bobby Grieger, Rickay Grieger, Jaime Schwertner, Regan Grieger, Lacie Dlouhy, Coty Brown, Seth Lannen, and April Gamez; great-grandchildren, Ricky Grieger, Kaci Grieger, Mckenzie Grieger, and Kaitlyne Schwertner. He will be greatly missed by all of his loving family and friends. Pallbearers will be Bobby Grieger, Cory Schwertner, Seth Lannen, Cody Dlouhy, Coty Brown, and Cedrick Dickerson. In lieu of flower, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 701 Davis Street, Taylor, Texas, 76574 in Adolph's memory.
