Bio

Lewis Frederick Fair, 78 of Matador, died on December 28, 2019. A public graveside service under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada, and Rev. Chuck Harrison of Matador, officiating, will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., at East Mound Cemetery, Matador. The remains of his brother, Joe, and his sister, Ida Lee Fair Wiseman, who predeceased him, will be interred at the same time. Lewis was born August 18, 1941, in Scranton, Arkansas to the parentage of Arthur Lee and Ida Mae Fair. The family moved to Matador in the 1950’s where the senior Fairs were school teachers. Lewis was a favored member of the 1959 graduating class of Matador, known for his delightful sense of humor, wit and wisdom. He was also a star football player and a friend to all. Thereafter, Lewis attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University School of Pharmacy in Weatherford, Oklahoma, where he graduated with honors. He then began his long career as a pharmacist in 1964. He first lived in Oklahoma City and owned Reliable Discount Pharmacy, then later moved to Yale, Oklahoma, where he continued to work as a pharmacist. After his retirement, he moved back home to Matador in the early 2000’s, where he resided until his death. Lewis Fair married once, but sadly it ended in divorce. Of the marriage, three children were born; one son, Charles A. “Chuck” Fair, and two daughters. He was predeceased by his parents, and his older brother and younger sister.
