******************************************** Graveside services for Marie Cihlar, age 85, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Verdigre, Nebraska, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Riverside Cemetery in Verdigre. Brockhaus Funeral Home in Verdigre is in charge of arrangements. Marie died Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Alegent Health in Plainview, Nebraska. Marie Theresa Cihlar, daughter of Bernard and Marie (Cupita) Stock, was born December 28, 1929 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Marie attended St. Wenceslaus Elementary School in Omaha and then Notre Dame Academy. In her late teenage years, Marie worked at a cake factory in Omaha. She was united in marriage to Tom Mentzer and together they had a son Mike. Marie later married L.J. Cihlar and together they had another son, John. Marie lived in several places during her life: Louisiana, Florida, Omaha, Bellevue, and Verdigre, Nebraska. In her early twenties, she worked at Happy Hollow Country Club, where she met Ronald Reagan. Marie got his autograph and sold him a pack of cigarettes. She later worked at a drive in. When her first child was born, she became a homemaker. Marie was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Omaha and St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Verdigre. She also was a member of Notre Dame Academy Alumni. Marie belonged to the Deerpark Neighborhood Association. Marie is survived by her sons, Mike Mentzer of Omaha, Nebraska and John Cihlar of Verdigre, Nebraska; brother, Bernard Stock of Omaha; and two grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents.
