Union: Services Mr. John Sansing will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Milling Funeral Home Chapel of Union. Burial will be in the County Line Community Cemetery. Contributor: William Prentiss Clark (47054894) • [email protected] Parents suggested by: William Prentiss Clark (47054894) • [email protected] . ***** Union: John W Sansing, 88, died Thursday, January 2, 2020 at The Pinnacle of Greenville following a battle with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. Funeral services on January 11, 2020 at Milling Funeral Home in Union, MS at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will be held following at his family’s cemetery at County Line Baptist Church. He leaves his wife of 65 years, June Sharp Sansing; his son, John William (Holly) Sansing, Jr.; his daughter, Jobyna Sansing France; daughter-in-law Linda Sansing, his sisters Sarah (Melvin) Gilmore, and Patsy McCraw; grandchildren Rebekah (Burt) Caraway, Tara Sansing, Lauren Sansing, Caroline France, and Zachary Sansing; and great grandchildren Madison Sansing, Coers Caraway and Pierce Caraway, and a host of nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Union, MS, the son of Leon and Minnie Esta (Etheridge) Sansing, he attended County Line and Union schools. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War conflict and was stationed in Japan. After completing four years of service, he attended college on the G.I. Bill at East Central Junior College in Decatur and the University of Mississippi in Oxford majoring in Chemistry/Biology. Mr. Sansing had a long and distinguished career in the marine industry which began at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS. While there, he became a Certified Marine Chemist which he was an active member until his retirement in 2015. Throughout his career in the marine industry, Mr. Sansing worked at Gulfport Shipyard in Port Arthur, Texas; Mainstream Shipyard in Greenville, MS which he later became co-owner, Newpark Shipyard in Houston, Texas, Channelview Shipyard, in Baytown, Texas and various locations with National Marine. He was the owner of John W. Sansing, Inc Marine Chemist until his retirement. Throughout his career, Mr. Sansing trained many candidates seeking their Marine Chemist certification. He was recognized in San Diego, California in 2012 as the longest serving, active Marine Chemist in the United States. His greatest joy in life was his family. Mr. Sansing is proceeded in death by his parents; son Tony Sansing, and his sister Leta Thrash. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity or for research through the Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s Foundations. Loving appreciation from his family goes to the Delta Regional Medical Center Hospice group and The Pinnacle of Greenville.
