obit courtesy of [email protected] Mary C. Zabka, 84 of Petersburg, NE, died Sunday May 31, 2015 at Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion, NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, JUNE 10TH, 2015, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, NE, with Fr. Stan Schmit officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Petersburg. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the church with a 7:30 p.m. wake service. Levander Funeral Home of Albion is in charge of arrangements. Mary C. Zabka, daughter of the late Victor and Mary (Farner) Biberich, was born December 9, 1930 at Omaha, NE and lived most of her life in Petersburg, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church and received her education at St. John’s Catholic Schools in Petersburg. On October 3, 1950, Mary was united in marriage to Marvin Joseph Zabka at St. John’s Catholic Church in Petersburg. Into their union of marriage, were eight children: Michael, Pat, Peg, Charles, Kevin, Thomas, Maureen and Tami. Over the years, Mary and Marvin owned and operated the Zabka Service Station in Petersburg. Mary was a member of St John’s Catholic Church in Petersburg, St. John’s Choir and Altar Society, Elkhorn Valley Fiddlers and helped with the Boy Scouts. She was a loving grandmother to her 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Mary is survived by her seven children: Michael Zabka of Cedar Rapids; Pat (Chuck) Petsche of Petersburg; Peg (Ray) Starman of Albion, Kevin Zabka (Pam Dinslage) of St. James, MN; Thomas Zabka (Sandra Borer) and Maureen (Delbert) Seier all of Petersburg; Tami (Darren) Young of Shelton; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law: Adolf (Trenda) Zabka of Swanton, NE; two sisters-in-law: Josephine Homolka of Neligh and Betty (Jim) Miller of Belgrade; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Marvin, one infant son Charles and a son-in-law Dan Thieman. She will be missed by many family and friends.
