Services Today For Alma A. Sanders, 72 Funeral services for Alma Amanda Sander, 72, Route 4, Ava, will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at Clinkingbeard Chapel with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. A resident of the Ava community since 1952, Mrs. Sanders died at 8 a.m. Jan. 1 at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, following a long illness. She was a housewife, school teacher, cook and had worked at MFA Produce in Springfield. She was a Christian. Born Dec. 28, 1917, at Taylor, Nebr., she was the daughter of James Edward and Flora (Moon) Starke. She married Loyd W. Sanders on May 21, 1937 at Taylor, Nebr. They moved to the Ava area from Nebraska in 1952. Loyd and Alma had a farm in the Rome community for several years before moving to Ava. Alma was a member of the Women's Democratic Club of Douglas County and was a dedicated worker in the early organization of the Senior Citizens of the county. Survivors include her husband, Loyd, one son, Gordon Sanders, Ava, one stepson, Terrell Sanders, Burwell, Nebr.; one stepdaughter, Sharon Sanders, Kennett; nine step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
