******************************************** Funeral services for Mildred I. Thompson, age 95, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2019, at Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home in Norfolk. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mildred died Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Heritage of Bel Air in Norfolk. Mildred Irene (Youngmeyer) Thompson, daughter of Frank Lorenz and Effie Christina (Myer) Youngmeyer, was born December 27, 1923, at Wayne, Nebraska. Mildred’s family lived southeast of Wayne until her mother’s death. They moved to Altona, Nebraska where Mildred’s grandfather Jasper Myer, who was a blacksmith, lived and could help take care of his grandchildren. Mildred attended parochial school at Trinity Lutheran in Altona until the eighth grade. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran in May 1938. Mildred attended Wayne High School for two years and graduated from Finlayson, Minnesota High School in May 1942. Mildred lived with her uncle and aunt Oliver and Christina Anderson after her father passed away in January of 1940. Mildred was united in marriage to Russell Harry Thompson on August 14, 1942. They were the parents of seven children: Nancy, Michael, Jerold, Kevin, Debra, Susan, and Sherri. Mildred and Russell farmed southeast of Winside until 1969. They bought a farm east of Battle Creek and continued farming until 1993. Mildred later moved to Norfolk. Mildred worked at Dale Electronics, Alco, Walmart, and Daylight Donuts. She volunteered with the Red Cross Bloodmobile and was a member of Women’s Christian Club and Residers. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Dave) Weich of Westminster, Colorado; son Jerold Thompson of Belton, South Carolina; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband; children, Michael Thompson, Kevin Thompson, Deb Voge, Susan Prauner, and Sherri Warneke; son-in-law, Paul Voge; and grandchildren, Alicia Warneke, Philip Voge, Troy Thompson, and Traci Davis.
