http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~neplatte/vitals/vitals1972.html The Columbus Telegram, March 29, 1972 JACKSON--Frederick Jackson funeral Thursday Services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at McKown Funeral Chapel for Frederick James Jackson, 82, who died Tuesday at home, 1403 12th Street. He had been ill about five years. The Rev. C. William Shaffer will officiate, with burial in Roselawn Cemtery [sic]. The body lies in state at the funeral home. Son of the late James and Emma (Swanie) Jackson, he was born July 14, 1889 at Franklin and received his education at Kearney. He married Ida Ethel Strickler at Minden on July 19, 1911, and they lived at Wilcox before moving to Columbus in 1923. Formerly in the battery and electric business, he farmed in later years. In Columbus he attended Highland Park Evangelical Free Church. He was a former volunteer fireman. Surviving are his wife and seven children, Mrs. Ray (Larean) Schroeder of Muskegon, Mich.; Cecil J. of Hastings; Ellis B. of Fontana, Calif.; Lawrence H. of Tacoma, Wash.; Mrs. Elmer (Mary) Garbers, Mrs. Arthur (Phyllis) Abegglen and Mrs. Anthony (Zathea) Hilger, all of Columbus. Also surviving are a brother, Arthur of North Platte; 25 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. Five brothers, three sisters, two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren preceded him in death.
