Bio

Sammie M. Louis, 71, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at the Golden Living Center in Columbus. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 12 at 11:00 AM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus, with military honors by The American Legion Honor Guard, Hartman Post 84. Pastor Glenn Williamson will be officiating. The family will receive friends the day of the service from 10:00 AM until service time. Family interment will be in the Friend Cemetery west of Monroe, Nebraska. Sammie M. Louis was born December 19, 1938, in Livingston, Virginia, to Samuel Clay and Willie Erline (Bryant) Wesley. She graduated from Livingston High School and was united in marriage to Richard Allen Louis in Reno, Nevada. She entered the United States Air Force serving from February 28, 1958, to July 10, 1959. The couple lived in California during their military careers. In 1963 they moved to Columbus, Nebraska, where Sammie worked at D & L Manufacturing for 10 years. In 1966 they moved to Cornlea, Nebraska. In 1975 Sammie went to work at Lindsay Manufacturing retiring in 2000. Sammie moved back to Columbus where she resided at Heritage House. She enjoyed doing word searches, puzzles, crocheting, feeding the birds and squirrels, gardening, and flowers. Sammie is survived by: Son - Richard Wayne (Cheryl) Louis of Columbus, NE Granddaughter - Ashley Miller of Columbus, NE Ex-Husband - Richard (Lois) Louis of Albion, NE Sammie was preceded in death by: Parents - Samuel and Willie Wesley
