Born to Ernest Eugene "Ernie" Holmes (1873–1947) & Elizabeth Beecher Holmes (1899–1965). Ernie & Elizabeth divorced, and Elizabeth married three more times. Johnnie married Myrtis Inez Miller about 1936. They later divorced and she married D.A. Sanders. Five children: • Dorothy Sue Holmes Rouse (died before 2021) • Johnny Leroy Holmes, Jr. (1939-2014) • Rose Holmes • Stanley E.
